School-Year Community Service
|
Overview Each year, EMK seniors participate in the School-Year Community Service program where they spend 3 hours per week serving at a local agency. This is an important part of our school's culture and because of that, we permit students time during the school day to fulfill this requirement. During the 2009-2010 year, our students volunteered at Children’s Hospital Boston, Boston Public School elementary and K-8 schools, Teens In Print, Kennedy Academy, Roxbury Community College, YMCA, Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly, Roxbury HeadStart ABCD, Harvard University School of Public Health, MSPCA Animal Care and Adoption Center, Boston University School of Dental Medicine, Room to Grow, Whittier Street Health Clinic, and the Women of Color AIDS Council. Additionally, fifteen 11thgraders and two 12th graders were trained and are volunteers for The Efficacy Institute’s Kids 2 Kids Program working at the King K-8 School and the Haynes Early Education Center. |
